About Ironman

I started my career as a certified welder working inside of The Dow Chemical Company welding high-pressure pipe. After 8 years of this type of work, a serious on-the-job back injury forced me to re-think my life. Self-employment was the only option because I had to be able to set my own schedule...and I haven't looked back since.

Ironman Enterprises was established in 1994 and has offered products and limited services of high-quality goods and craftsmanship at very competitive prices for the past 11 years. So, do yourself a favor and shop Ironman first!

Biography

Born in Midland, MI. I attended Bullock Creek Schools, where as a young boy, I was often pre-excused from classes during Michigan's Bow and Firearm Gun season to explore the wilderness of Northern Michigan with my family. This is where my love of two-tracking began and Gladwin, MI was the area that helped form my bond with the great outdoors.

I have been an avid outdoorsman since I was 8 years old and have loved tooling down two-tracks and back roads since then.

My first vehicle at age 16 was a 1973 IH Scout II. I haven't been without a four wheel drive since.

Driving my orange "binder" to High School where I found myself spending a lot of time in metal shop. This is where I first fell in love with the melding of steel.

Destined to become a Vocational scholar, I attended Delta Welding Center where I earned certificates in High Pressure Plate and Pipe Welding.

My career soon found me working inside of The Dow Chemical Company, where I passed 100% of all X-rayed welds. After approximately 8 years inside of Dow, I suffered a major spinal injury on-the-job.

I was forced to start a new chapter in my life and created Ironman Offroad, dba Ironman Enterprises, in 1994.

In the past 11 years of Ironman Enterprises, I have been able to create custom one-of-a-kind products for my customers.

I became involved in the Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association (GLFWDA) in 1997. I jumped in with both feet right away. I couldn't believe there was a group of over 500 people just in the State of Michigan that had organized as a full-size 4x4 association.

Beginning in 1998, I served 2 terms (4 years total) as the GLFWDA Recording Corresponding Secretary. Following that run, I became the Membership Secretary for a 2-year term and then was elected as President of the Association. I chose to step-down from my duties as President effective January 1, 2006, to focus my energies on other responsibilities within the organization. One of these duties happens to be my favorite, serving as a Four-Wheel Drive Awareness Instructor. I am also very active with the Trailride Committee and work closely with the Executive Board as the immediate Past President.

Along with my full-size 4x4 addiction, my wife and I also ride ATVs, Yamaha utility quads, to be exact. We are members of the ATV Offroad Club of Michigan. Not believing this is enough hobbies, we enjoy vintage RVs and are in the process of restoring a 1954 Aljoa tagalong travel trailer...a whopping 11' in length.

My wife and I enjoy traveling around the USA and Canada to go four-wheeling and site seeing, which is where you will find us full-time when we retire. We will be selling the ranch and hitting the open road with a Toter Home RV and trailer to haul us and our "toys".

We hope to see you on the trail someday!
